Logistic Regression - Linear function as input to Sigmoid Function

Hello. I have question regarding input to Sigmoid Function. So why input of Sigmoid Function needs to be linear function (y = m + kx). Can it be non-linear function (e.g. y = m + kx^2)? Since Sigmoid Function will range its output to 0 to 1, not depending on whether input function is linear or non-linear.

It’s just a function, so it only cares about the value which is used to calculate the output.
You can use any input and it will continue to work.
